Autodesk’s Standalone Software to Go Subscription-Only in 2016

Autodesk will end sales of perpetual licenses for its standalone software products effective February 1, 2016. That's right — the company is giving customers a full year to get used to the idea of perpetual software licenses going away. It's the first phase of the company's previously announced gradual transition to subscription-only software.
For one thing, if you have a perpetual software license with a maintenance subscription, nothing will change as long as you stay on that maintenance subscription plan. Users with perpetual licenses will receive benefits, including software upgrades, as long as their maintenance subscriptions are active. However, if you don't renew your maintenance subscription, you will be able to keep using the upgraded software under your existing perpetual license — but you'll need to purchase a standard desktop subscription in order to get back on the upgrade train later.

Fusion 360 to be given as Product Design Suite Subscription Benefit

The future of making things will be dramatically different; driven by disruption in the way we live, work, communicate, and produce & consume products. As a result, Autodesk reimagined 3D CAD/CAM from the ground up. The first tool of its kind, Autodesk® Fusion 360™ enables teams to work together within an integrated design, engineering and fabrication platform, virtually anywhere and on any device.

As of January 30 2015, Autodesk® Product Design Suite Subscription customers will receive Fusion 360 as an entitlement. This gives customers the ability to take advantage of new business and technical opportunities, while providing them with more choice and flexibility than ever before.

Giving Fusion 360 to PrDS customers provides them the tools they'll need when they're ready to create the products of the future. We are continuing to invest in the best possible portfolio for our customers today, while anticipating their needs for tomorrow.

Calculate the Erosion Rate with Autodesk Simulation CFD

One of the leading causes of equipment failure in harsh flow environments is surface erosion due to high-velocity liquid flow impingement. Understanding where erosion may occur is essential for designing for greater durability and longer service life.
Contaminants such as sand, quartz, and fly ash cause material erosion as they recirculate and impinge against valves and other machinery. In the oil and gas industry, engineers evaluate this Ductile erosion based on the "mesh size" of the particle. The mesh size is the largest particle size that is likely to be found in a system. This phenomenon is also referred to as "washout."

Autodesk Simulation CFD uses Lagrangian particle tracking with the Edwards Model to compute erosion. A low particle concentration assumption (not a slurry erosion model) is employed, and results are presented as a scalar result quantity. This facilitates design comparison, and removes the guesswork from interpreting erosion predictions.
The erosion model uses angle of attack bounce data and the Brinell material hardness to compute the material volume removal rate. This approach qualitatively identifies areas subject to erosion. It illustrates the relationship between the flow and erosion trends, which can lead to erosion reduction through design improvements.

ImageGrafix Signs up with SEH USB lock Server

USB Device Server make 8 dongles available via network. (Safe, Central, and Efficient Dongle Management)
SEH Technology, is a leading network solution vendor, has  launched myUTN-80 DongleServer, a new network solution specially designed for USB software key management. The compact device simply attaches to the network enabling access for up to eight dongles via its USB interfaces. Users operate their protected software as usual without the hassle of attaching dongles locally to their PC.
Dongles are available centrally, and with their full functional range, across the network for several users. Software licenses are always enforced by a one-to-one connection with the dongle. At the same time, they are safe from loss, damage, wear and tear, and theft. The myUTN-80 DongleServer allows for the assigning of each dongle to a different user, customer or department. A broad range of security features protects unauthorized access to the dongles. The device enables the utilization of USB license dongles in server-based computing infrastructures and virtualized environments based on VMware, Citrix XEN, and Microsoft Hyper-V, which until now has been extremely difficult if not impossible.
The myUTN-80 dongle server for Ethernet networks (10BaseT/100BaseTX) is compatible with Windows 32/64-bit versions (Windows 7, Server 2008, Vista, Server 2003, XP). Regular and free software updates, technical support, and a warranty of up to five years come with the myUTN-80 dongle server.
