INTEGRATED TOTAL PLANT DESIGN SOLUTIONS
An Integrated Total Solution is a solution that not only has all the tools required to complete a task or project, but also a solution where information is shared between all of those tools to the extent that the benefits of one project team member’s work can be accessed by all other project team members.

Integration in practice
Most probably one of the best examples of integration is the link between COADE’s CAESAR II pipe stress program and AutoCAD® based CADWorx Plant Design suite. These two applications were naturals for integration as the work done in both design and analysis has such a direct and immediate impact on each other. What made this integration special was the fact that as both applications are developed by COADE, the developers of each program could work very closely (both figuratively and literally) together. The success of this integration which allows the stress engineer and piping designer to work exactly as they always have, but now they can benefit directly, in as transparent a form as possible, from the work done by their counterpart across the departmental divide.
Quantifiable Benefits of Integration
Obvious benefits of an integrated solution are evident in the fact that data reuse leads to work hour savings and reduced mistakes incurred during manual or semi-automatic data transfer. This indicates that one of the best ways to save costs is not by investing in faster machines or increasing the efficiency at each of the engineering, procurement, or construction stages of the process but by making sure information input is made useful at each subsequent stage of the process.
An Integrated System, a Distributed System
A major benefit of a system that shares all information is that it allows workflow tasks to be broken up and distributed to different project team members – this may be done on a regional or discipline level, between EPC and owner/operator, or in many other ways. If all team members can see and benefit from the work of all others, there is no need to face the choice of either having to assign the entire project design to a single individual (or single group) or risk clashes and other incompatibilities between different team members. This shows that distributive design may well be the true payoff for an integrated engineering system.
Some Examples of Integrated Applications offered by ImageGrafix:
PVElite and CADWorx Equipment

CADWorx Plant/Plant Professional and NavisWorks
|
NavisWorks software (Roamer, Presenter,
Publisher, and Clash Detective) have been integrated with CADWorx Plant/Plant Professional to perform the design review, presentation graphics, and clash detection functions for COADE plant design suite. |
|
PVElite/CodeCale and NozzlePRO
CodeCale (also included in PVElite) has an interface to a finite element analysis program, NozzlePro, developed by Paulin Research Group. This allows users to perform FEA on vessel-nozzle junctions from within the CodeCale/PVElite program. FEA can be useful incases where the geometry is outside the range of WRC-107.
CAESAR II and FE/PIPE
|
|
FE/Pipe interfaces with the structural/Piping
model for CAESAR II. Neutral files from CAESAR II
(.CII) can be read into the FE/Pipe "Beam Element Generator". The required neutral file format is .CII for CAESAR II. Extensive review of the data conversion is performed by the translator and warnings, notes, etc. are printed during the conversion process.

AutoCAD and FE/PIPE
Mesh/PRO provides an interface between AutoCAD 2000/2005 and FE/Pipe.
It allows Axisymmetric, Shell and Brick models to be created and modified in AutoCAD, and then analyzed in FE/Pipe.
PVElite and Foundation3D
PVElite interfaces with Dimensional Solutions' Founction 3D - a comprehensive software solution
for the analysis and design of foundations for exchangers, horizontal vessels and tall towers. The interface extracts meaningful information from PVElite such as equipment erating, test weights and such other information required to complete the foundation design of the equipment, thus saving hours of input and design time.
CADWorx and PlantWAVE
PlantWAVE automatically generation 2D Orthographic General Arrangment drawings from 3D Models created using CADWorx Plant Professional, based on the knowledge based engineering technology, thus making the piping designer more productive and offers a consistent drawing quality.
CAESAR II and PIPENET
|
|
PIPENET Transient calculates the pressure surge which can occur in a piping system due to valve closure, pump trip, pump
start up, etc. The surge force (surge pressure * pipe flow area) thus calculated by PIPENET can be imported into CAESAR II model at all elbow pairs as force spectrum, or time history using dynamic analysis of the CAESAR II pipe stress analysis software.
CADWorx and MultiSTEEL
The leading structural steel AutoCAD-based application, MultiSTEEL 3D, incorporates many features specifically developed for the oil, gas, process and related industries, more specifically it has a powerful set of data exchange tool to permit the transfer of data between MultiSTEEL and other environments, principally 3D analysis and design, fabrication, and process plant modeling such as CADWorx.
CADWorx fieldPipe
CADWorx fieldPipe for Leica fieldPro is the only AutoCAD- based product that compines Leica Geosystem's laser precision, Leica fieldPipe's in-field direct-to-model power and COADE CADWorx Plant Professional's specification driven AutoCAD-based modeling capabilities.
PVElite and DraftX/Draft V
Draft V/Draft X is a feature based parametric drawing generation software for Pressure Vessels, Columns, Reactors and Heat Exchangers based on
AutoCAD 2000 or above. Draft V/Draft X helps the user to import the geometric information from PVElite and generates the necessary detailed drawings and BOM required for the fabrication.
CADWorx Plant Professional and AutoCAD Mechanical
AutoCAD Mechanical is a good companion for CADWorx Plant Professional software users, as it
provides useful tools necessary for a piping designer while modeling Plant Piping. AutoCAD
Mechanical has useful tools such as 2D Plate FEA, Bending Moment Calculation, Section View Generation, etc, which are the tools necessary for a piping designer for jobs such as calculating safe span between the pipe supports and to estimate stress on a base plate of pipe rack. Furthermore AutoCAD Mechanical allows the users to use INVENTOR, a parametric 3D modeling software to model the equipment inside CADWorx Plant 3D, thus saving hours of modeling time.
CADWorx P&ID Professional and AutoCAD Electrical
CADWorx P&ID Professional takes full advantage of AutoCAD Electrical's intelligent embedded attributes. The users can create custom CADWorx P&D Symbols using AutoCAD Electrical which produces intelligent loop diagrams and P&ID’s which have all the intelligence of both CADWorx and AutoCAD Electrical software packages.
